If we had to sum up the International Culture and Food fair with two powerful words, it would have to be Diversity & Community. As an International school there are so many nationalities with different heritage and culture and that is what this day really showed. But most importantly the strong sense of community was in the air. All of the parents that have participated got really involved and embraced the spirit of the day.
You could really smell, taste, hear and feel like you were travelling to all corners of the world. There were some wonderfully put together stands that have proudly presented the nationalities, their traditions, food and even dancing. Every single stand was inviting and had an amazing sense of pride. You were also able to experience an International buffet with variety of different sweet and savory options. The day was finished with heartwarming parade, where national flags were flown up high and performances of interesting songs and dancing performed mainly by the children which was a very sweet touch.
On the top of it all, the gratitude goes to all that have supported and bought raffle tickets for Oman Autism society. Not forgetting the wonderful sponsors, that have donated some fantastic prizes. The raffle has managed to raise 453 OMR and all of the money has been given to the representative of the charity on the day, who also gave her time to provide brief insight into the mission of how the charity helps with autism.
One of the big challenges, when throwing a big event is to make sure that we keep up with the school ethos of Sustainability. This was a mission accomplished as hardly any recycling was left and we applaud the effort made by everyone involved. Let’s continue to say no to plastic together!
The P.T.A would really like to thank all volunteers that helped prior or at the event, to all that participated on the day by bringing food, performing or having a stand, to all our sponsors and to every parent that enjoyed the day with us, as without you we couldn’t create such a special school community!
